35 :: Summer Bloomers

Jaana: Garden Lupines are a true sign of summer to me, and since they are almost done blooming now, it must mean that fall is on its way.

Kia: Dahlias are now bursting into bloom in gardens all over Scotland and will flourish nearly nonstop into autumn.

  1. I love lupines! Ours bloom here in early summer. And I remember the dahlias my grandmother used to grow. They got as big as dinner plates! One of my favorite summer bloomers is the purple coneflower. You can see some of mine here...http://www.flickr.com/photos/8800885@N06/7866289620/in/photostream

    1. From Jaana: That photo is from early July, now even the last ones are done blooming.

      From Kia: These were huge also, I had never seen Dahlias as big and pretty as them.

      Thanks for sharing your coneflower photo!

  2. I love lupines but haven't yet been successful in growing them in my gardens.

    1. From Jaana: Overhere lupines are very invasive, to the point of posing a threat to some of our native plants.
