38 :: Swallow
Jaana: Barn Swallows are now slowly leaving us to spend winter in Africa. We'll get to see them again in April-June. An old Finnish saying claims that the sight of the first swallow means summer has arrived.
Kia: The Barn Swallow is the most common member of the swallow family in Britain. Swallows are common summer visitors, arriving in April and leaving in October. A well known proverb goes like this: "One swallow does not make a summer".

Lovely :) I saw some swallows yesterday. Will miss them when they are gone.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! We have barn swallows and tree swallows here. They fly around when I'm mowing the yard and they eat the insects I stir up. It's so much fun to watch them swoop down low like they do!
ReplyDeleteLovely, we have Swallows that come every year too.... San Clemente California, they have a swallow festival every year.
ReplyDeleteSwallows are lovely birds. They remind me of one of my favorite childhood stories, Thumbelina.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stoppin' by. :)
