Probably wind turbines are more popular and efficient near the coastlines, where the winds are stronger. We have seen on Flickr that there is a huge wind turbine farm in the California desert.
I've seen these, they are cool when in a bundle... great pic's, love the water...hey.... what's that thing in the bottom picture, structured like a triangle?
It's the beacon on Horse Isle, a small, rocky island, nowadays a natural reserve. This old tower is located at the south end of the island and was presumably once used as a lighthouse.
Lovely pictures! The second photo is just beautiful! We don't have any wind turbines in this part of the country that I know of.
