91 :: July Scenery

Jaana: July was more cloudy and cooler than June, but towards the end of the month we got to bathe in warm weather again. Today the length of day is 18h 26m, sunrise at 4:10 AM, sunset at 10:36 PM.

Kia: July has been mostly sunny and dry, a proper summer month. Today the length of day is 16h 06m, sunrise at 5:20 AM, sunset at 9:26 PM.

A reminder of how our sceneries looked like in June, May, April, March, February and January.

90 :: Field Flowers

Jaana: Yellow and pink have been the colors of July. In this case, Goldenrod and Fireweed.

Kia: The native Spotted Orchid is Scotland's most widespread wild orchid. Its pale purple spikes can be admired in July.

89 :: Feathered Babies

Jaana: I photographed this owlet (possibly a Ural Owl or a Great Grey Owl) in early June soon after it had left the nest.

Kia: Wee fluffy cygnets of Mute Swan are snuggled happily together.

88 :: Ducklings

Jaana: Mallard ducklings are growing up.

Kia: Mallard ducklings are so cute and fluffy that is almost a pity that they grow up so fast; it only takes them 50-60 days to fledge and become independent.

We'll be posting twice a week for a while. See you on Wednesday.

87 :: Pond

Jaana: If I had been more "brave", I would have snapped a shot when there was a wedding couple having their pictures taken on the white bridge.

Kia: All the ponds in the area are full of babies right now: cygnets, ducklings, cootlings, moorhen chicks.

86 :: Seashore

Jaana: The dunes of Hailuoto, the largest island of The Northern Gulf of Bothnia. One of my favorite places in the world.

Kia: Brodick Beach and Goat Fell on Isle of Arran, the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and one of the most southerly Scottish Islands.
